Quark and Berries Parfait

2013 Kids Recipe Challenge Winning Recipe: 1st Place!  [After school snack: Grades 1 to 3]

Eden, from Toronto, says, “Children will LOVE this recipe as it is very yummy, colourful and full of fresh fruit”. Kids can do most of the recipe themselves - a great way to get involved in snacktime.

Preparation Time: 5 minutes

  1. Try something new! Quark is a fresh cheese available in the dairy aisle alongside sour cream and cream cheese. Sold in a tub, it is great to enjoy on it’s own or stirred up with herbs as a dip. If quark is not available, look for a thick balkan style or greek yogurt to use instead.

Quark cheese

1/4 cup (60 mL)

Large flake oats

1 Tbsp (15 mL)

Fresh strawberries, halved

Fresh blackberries

Fresh blueberries

1 Tbsp (15 mL)

Pure maple syrup (optional)

1 Tbsp (15 mL)

  1. Spoon quark into a small bowl. Sprinkle with oats.
  2. Top with strawberries, blackberries and blueberries. Drizzle with maple syrup, if using.
