Patty Panda

The Patty Panda is a first place winner in our 2013 Foodimal Contest!

6 year old Abigail, from Edmonton, picked the potatoes and squash on her grandparents farm and then had fun mashing them with mom. Patty panda, as you can see from her picture, likes to spend time in the trees and garden where it is cool and quiet.  A shy - but fun - foodimal, she enjoys school, learning and reading books with hard words.  She is a great friend to have!

How to make a Patty Panda

You will need:

  • 1 patty pan squash
  • Mashed potatoes
  • Black olives

  1. Boil and mash potatoes with skim milk.  Leave the skin on.
  2. Shape the mashed potatoes around the patty pan squash.  Get creative with the arms, legs and head.
  3. Use black olives for the eyes, ears, mouth and feet.  Place the olives around the bear's middle to make a panda stripe.
