Ava's Applephant is an honourable mention in our 2013 Foodimal Contest!    

Seven year old Ava, from Millbrook, Ontario, says the friendly applephant lives in the forest with her other foodimal friends.  The applephant really likes to eat mosquitoast.  She gives other foodimals rides on her back and likes to go swimming.


How to make an Applephant:

You will need:

  • 1 apple
  • Cucumber
  • 5 raisins
  • 8 Cherry tomatoes
  • 3 pretzels
  • 5 mini marshmallows
  • Toothpicks


  1. Take one apple and put four toothpicks in the bottom. Slice 2 cherry tomatoes onto each toothpick for legs.
  2. Slide 3 mini marshmallows onto the toothpick to make the trunk.
  3. Place one mini marshmallow with a toothpick for each eye.  Attach a raisin to the centre.
  4. Attach three raisins with toothpicks to make the mouth.
  5. Attach two cucumber slices with toothpicks to the apple to make the ears.
  6. Insert two pretzel sticks for the tusks and one for the tail.
