Get Kids in the Kitchen! Kids Recipe Challenge

Hey kids! Are you in grades 1-8? Do you like helping in the kitchen? Send us your favourite breakfast, lunch, snack and dinner recipes and you have a chance to win some great prizes!

Who can enter

Ontario students in grades 1 to 8.

What to do

Create an original, kid-friendly recipe for either breakfasts, school day lunches, snacks or dinner.

Enter as often as you like! You can enter by yourself or with a friend(s). Recipes may be in English or French.  Only one prize will be awarded per entry form.


Recipes will be judged on:

  • Nutrition
  • Taste
  • Originality
  • Response to the question, “Why would kids like this recipe?”.

Tips for a winning entry!

  • We are looking for truly original recipes! Choose unique ingredients and cooking methods. Visit the website to see what new recipes EatRight Ontario use.
  • Try some new ingredients. Wow us with your use of colourful vegetables and fruit, whole grains, legumes, herbs and spices. 
  • Test your recipe with family and friends. If they like how it tastes then the EatRight Ontario judges probably will too!
  • Help us see what your recipe looks like. Send a photo or draw a picture of the finished dish. 


You have a chance to win prizes like gift cards, cookbooks and electronics! Winners will be selected in each category for a 1st, 2nd and 3rd place.  All winning recipes will be posted on the EatRight Ontario website.


January 6, 2017 (4:00 p.m. EST). 

Each contestant may submit multiple entries in each recipe category. Each submission must be accompanied by a separate Entry Form. Entries can be submitted by e-mail using the PDF entry form or by mail.
