Kids Recipe Challenge Winning Recipe: Honourable mention

Category: After school snacks, grades 4-6

Simran, from Mississauga, loves this recipe because of its unexpected crunch and surprising sweetness.

Here’s a combination of textures and flavours for a snack idea. Kids love bagels and cream cheese and this version has the crunch of walnuts and apple kissed with a sweet touch of maple syrup. Fun, delicious and nutritious!

Tips

  1. For added calcium and protein, you can substitute ricotta or cottage cheese for cream cheese.
