Lacto-ovo vegetarian

A vegetarian-based diet that includes dairy and eggs, but no meat, fish or poultry.

Lactose intolerance

A reaction to the natural sugar (called lactose) found in milk and milk products. It is caused by a lack of the enzyme lactase, which is needed to digest lactose.

Legumes

Legumes are seeds that grow in pods. Legumes are high in fibre, low in fat and a good source of protein. Beans, lentils, peas, soybeans, and peanuts are all examples of some common legumes.

Lutein

A natural colour pigment that is found in peas, corn, eggs and green leafy vegetables such as kale, spinach and collards. It is an antioxidant.
